2017 China’s Hospital Rankings Released

On November 17, Hospital Management Institute, Fudan University releases the “2017 China’s Hospital Rankings”. In the “2017 China’s Hospital Ranking (Comprehensive)”, the top three are Peking Union Medical College Hospital, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, and Chinese PLA General Hospital. The three hospitals have been in the top 3 for 9 consecutive years.

Hospital Management Institute, Fudan University have been evaluating hospitals and specialties for 9 years, and the evaluation focuses on clinical disciplines, specialty reputation, and the scientific research output of the year. Due to the scientific nature of the evaluation method, the results of the rankings have been widely recognized.

Besides the traditional national comprehensive ranking, national specialty comprehensive ranking, national specialty reputation ranking, and 7 regions’ specialty reputation ranking, a specialty comprehensive ranking is added. 65%~68% hospitals have no change in any specialty ranking.

Experts taking part in the evaluation has increased from 4175 in 2017 to 4630 in 2018, and the effective feedbacks reach 2964, the highest in the history, which means 64.1% of the evaluation experts gave their feedbacks.

With the continuous improvement of the list, the specialties of China’s Hospital Ranking (Fudan) has climbed from 27 to 40. To implement the concept of“Healthy China” and the development of hospital specialties, this year’s rankings add three extra specialties reproductive, allergy and health management.

According to Hospital Management Research Institute of Fudan University, the rankings will include more specialties that have become independent in the future.
