Wanda Group and UPMC Sign Cooperation Agreement to Jointly Build and Operate 5 World-Class Hospitals

On September 30, Wanda Group and UPMC, a leading academic medical center based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, signed a far-reaching strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing to jointly build and operate five world-class hospitals in China that meet the highest international quality standards.
Pending completion of final agreements, UPMC expects to provide its expertise in hospital design, operation and management intended to lead to Joint Commission International accreditation and to ensure a patient- and family-centric experience.
Mr. Wang Jianlin, the Chairman of Wanda Group, Mr. Zhang Lin, President of Wanda Cultural Industry Group, Mr. Hu Zhanghong, President of Wanda Culture Travel Innovation Group, Dr. Bruno Gridelli, Executive Vice President of UPMC International , and Mr. Jeffrey Bernstein, Vice President, UPMC International and Country Manager of China, attended the signing ceremony.

Wanda Group and UPMC plan to jointly build and operate five international hospitals, which will be fully funded by Wanda and located in first-tier cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Wuhan and Guangzhou. Wanda Group has purchased the land for Chengdu hospital and has started the design for that initial facility.

UPMC is also partners in China with Central South University’s Xiangya Hospital and has a digital pathology collaboration with KingMed Diagnostics.
