Hainan Province to Create Tourism Zone Where Twitter and Facebook are Accessible

On June 21, 2018, Hainan Provincial Government released Three Year Plan on Promoting International Tourism in Hainan Province 2018-2020. According to the plan, Hainan will strive to attract about 2 million inbound tourists and 50, 000 overseas workers related to tourism in 2020.

Policies on overseas talents’ employment in Hainan province will be more eased and inclusive. The province will bring in more international labors from the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Nepal, Vietnam etc. to fulfill its labor demands for sales, management, massage service and household service personnel. Relevant work visas will be provided for these people.

Hainan will increase more international direct flights. It works to set up 100 overseas routes in 2020, with international direct routes no less than 70. By then, there will be 8 flights per day travelling between Hainan and Hong Kong.

Haikou Meilan International Airport and Sanya Phoenix International Airport are planned to be 24-hour customs clearance ports, and Boao Airport will welcome more overseas guests. It will be highlighted to open flights that connecting countries and regions along the “Belt & Road” areas.

Under the Plan, cruise lines travelling around the island and several other inbound cruise lines will be opened to create a Cruise Line Tourism Hotspot Along the Marine Silk Road.

Meanwhile, Hainan will also provide more convenient visa-free and visa-on-arrival services for foreign tourists, more countries will be covered by these services.

A foreign tourist zone will be created in Haikou and Sanya, where foreign tourists will have no barriers in such social apps as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

The plan reveals that Hainan will enlarge the total number of departure tax refund service stations, and develop sports lottery enterprises on such sports as golf, sailboat, yacht, surfing, marathon, cycling, kickboxing, e-sports, tennis, auto racing, horse racing and so on.
